Sometimes the routers cannot cover a very large area such as a huge house or a small work office or something similar. The routers which can cover a relatively larger area are a little too pricey and do not fit under everyone’s budget. And some people don’t want to go around buying more routers just so they can have a little extra coverage. But the problem of dead spots in the Wi-Fi coverage still remains. Sometimes there are different types of barriers such as thick concrete walls, different floors and so on and the Wi-Fi signal gets blocked so they just don’t get the coverage that was promised. And all the users cannot just sit in one place where the router is set up. This is where the Extender enters the scene. The Wi-Fi Extender, sometimes called the Wi-Fi range extender, is a type of a wireless device which is used to expand or enlarge the coverage of the wireless network.
What is a wi-fi extender ?
A Wi-Fi range extender is a device which is used to expand the coverage of the Wi-Fi network. It is situated in between the router and the client that wishes to use the internet but isn’t close enough to get a good coverage or signal of the Wi-Fi or if the client is on the other side of any barrier. The Wi-Fi range extender basically repeats the Wi-Fi signal from the router so that the coverage can be expanded. The extender setup receives the signal from the Wi-Fi network and amplifies it and then it transmits the boosted signal to the client. With the help of a Wi-Fi Range Extender, the users can successfully almost double the coverage area of the Wi-Fi network, thus receiving the Wi-Fi signal in the far corners of their homes or offices or even their backyards.
